Benefits and Services

As a MCAAP member you are eligible for:


  • Political Outreach 

MCAAP reaches out to elected officials and community partners to help make our members’ voices heard

on a myriad of educational actions that impact schools and our members collectively.


  • Chapter Membership

Members are represented by one of the five chapters within MCAAP: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Central Services, and Business and Operations Administrators. Chapter membership is

based on the member’s position within MCPS.


  • Negotiated Agreement

MCAAP engages in collective bargaining and safeguarding the salary, benefits and working conditions through the negotiated agreement.

  • Salary Enhancements                                     

Salary supplements negotiated by MCAAP include compensation for longevity in MCPS administration, compensation for doctorates, added responsibilities such as special high school programs, single school administrators, Title 1, and FARMS schools. Additionally, specific stipends have also been negotiated.


  • Fringe Benefits                                      

Tuition reimbursement, mileage, business expenses, and paid leave are just a few benefits under the negotiated agreement.


  • Multiple Memberships

As a courtesy for members, MCAAP provides the option to join other associations (MAESP/NAESP and MASSP/NASSP via payroll deductions).


  • Social Gatherings & Recognition Programs

MCAAP provides social networking opportunities for members including the annual fall and spring membership meetings/networking events and other social activities.


  • Recognition Programs

MCAAP has opportunities to recognize and showcase outstanding achievements by our members.


  • PLCs, Conferences and Seminars

MCAAP hosts:

           -Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for our job–alike groups.

           -Summer leadership conference

           -Timely seminars on professional and personal planning topics.


  • Communications & Publications 

Regular updates, advisories and information on posted MCPS administrator vacancies are sent to members. In addition, members are kept informed through updates at PLCs, email messages and membership meetings. MCAAP’s website provides information about services and benefits, member activities and awards.

  • Sick Leave Bank

Sick Leave Bank grants are administered by MCAAP to provide leave to cover extended serious illnesses beyond the individual member’s accumulated sick leave. All new unit members are automatically enrolled in the MCAAP Sick Leave Bank.


  • Family Medical Crisis Leave Bank (FMCLB)

The Family Medical Crisis Leave Bank provides grants administered by MCAAP and MCPS for members who join the bank and need to assist immediate family members during serious illness/injury. Members must exhaust all available leave to be eligible for consideration for a FMCLB grant.


  • Extra Insurance

Members may choose to purchase extra life insurance through MCPS equal to one times their salary.


MCAAP partners with American Fidelity to offer members the opportunity to purchase additional types of insurance coverage at a group discount and pay premiums via payroll deductions. Options include:

           Disability insurance

           Accident coverage

           Cancer coverage

           Critical illness coverage (heart and stroke)

           Life insurance

  • Representation, Advice and Assistance 

Members are provided professional and legal advice regarding contract provisions and issues affecting employment and working conditions under the MCAAP/MCBOA contract.


  • Voice & Vote 

Through meetings with the Board of Education, Superintendent, and the county and state leaders, the concerns of members will be heard and considered. Members vote on the negotiated agreements and

other MCAAP business.
